Exactly one year ago, my dad’s cancer seemed to be winning the battle and Dad failed quickly. We all thought he was nearing the end. However, an oncology specialist proposed a new treatment, along with some new medications. Dad made a miraculous recovery and regained enough strength for those new treatments, which gave us another year with him to witness his resilience and unwavering spirit. When asked what had changed, he said,
“Hope is a powerful thing.”
Those words resonated deeply within our family and continue to be recalled on numerous occasions. We were blessed with another year alongside Dad. During that time, he had the opportunity to cherish various milestones, including the birth and baptism of a granddaughter, attending a few more grandchildren’s sporting events and performances, and joyful family gatherings.
Hope is indeed a powerful thing. And God’s grace is generous.
